(Scroll me!)Hi again everybody, new page for this month! Sorry I haven't been around lately I honestly just forgot lol. I've been home alone this week so have spent it just wandering around doing nothing. I watched Vertigo and Sunday Bloody Sunday and I liked them both but I'm not mad about either. I watched Raging Bull at the cinema and I really really enjoyed it however I did watch Taxi Driver the week before and it pales in comparison. It was more Catholic though and very self loathing although Taxi Driver is quite self loathing anyway.

I finished reading The Virgin Suicides and rewatched the film. I love the book so so much it holds a special place in my heart. I was raised very Catholic and also very isolated so I get it more than any of you!!!!! I find it a lot better than the film because the film is just so beautiful whereas the book allows itself to be grotty and awful and suffocating. And you really need that feeling of claustrophobia to be able to understand the girls and what they're going through. I think the film and especially the audience of the film are very much romanticising it in the same way that the boys do but its okay because yr a girl. Go to hell. There were also so many itsy bitsy details that weren't in the film and itsy bitsy details are needed for the subject matter to truly be conveyed I believe. I think my least fav omission is that Mary doesn't fail (I feel thats not the right language but whatever) her first attempt. The imagery of her coming home from hospital to find all her sisters dead and the furniture gone from the house to her then dead in her sleeping bag. EOugh my baby. Loved it.

I also watched Cat on a Hot Tin Roof but I'm currently reading the play so I'll save my thoughts til I've finished that. I started rereading Doom Patrol. Again I will save my thoughts until I've finished. I also voted. Yay. That takes us to today where I went to the cinema and watched Polyester. OOH I loved it. I love the more palatable John Waters films I'm sorry. They're just so kitsch. I really really enjoyed it. I don't have any thoughts on it its just really fun! Back to the blog. I might try to write more essays. I've just been writing weird stuff. But I think I need to get myself like maybe on a certain day of the month to start writing an essay. I'll think about it. Okay bye for now!

Long time no see girls! I finished reading Cat on a Hot Tin Roof and I really really loved it. I watched the film first bc its intended to be a visual medium but everybody told me the film was censored so I should've read it first but I assumed the censoring was like how it was in Streetcar. WRONG its a whole different play. I loved it though I really enjoyed the discussions on love and greed and all that jazz. I didn't enjoy it as much as Streetcar but its still an insane play. I also watched the Sacrifice at the cinema but I don't think I understood it. I watched Sweet Charity and it went straight into my Letterboxd top 4 its such a beautiful film. That is how I see the world. So cute. Yesterday I watched The Seventh Seal at the cinema and I loved it so much. The scene w the Flagellants really struck me. I'm very interested in the hysteria and religious attitudes surrounding the plague so I'm going to do a deep dive into that and then come back. Pathologic is one of my fav video games and the influence from that scene and the whole movie tbh is very clear. Anyway thats all I've watched now for the other stuff.

I have been leaving the house more. I've just been walking aimlessly for ages until I find a bench and then I'll sit down and read or write or just look around. I walked through a patch of nettles to find a bench the other day and there were loads of squirrels and weird bugs, a butterfly actually landed on my bag it was very cute. It's fun to mooch down the canal and I think I've been a lot happier lately just because I'm getting out the house. I'm still volunteering at Oxfam. It is such a good opportunity to help me w my selective mutism because yeah even though the second I step out from that till I don't speak, the need to be the number one Oxfam employee is making me do small talk w the customers. Its like something possesses me and I'm suddenly stood there telling 15 year old emo kids how good that CD is and they look at me like I'm mental. It's great. Life is so good lately. I'm going to Leigh tomorrow because I want to go on the guided busway so badddd lmao so I'm meeting up w oomf. I'll let u know how that goes. But thats all with me. I'll probably write an essay thing between the next journal so WATCH OUT. I hope yr having a great time girls stay silly!
